Offload — Privacy Policy

Offload is built around one idea: your thoughts are yours. This policy explains the little we handle and the much we don't.
AI parsing (optional, with your consent)
Offload can use a third-party AI service to turn what you write or say into a structured reminder. This is off by default: the app asks for your permission during onboarding, and you can turn it on or off at any time in Settings → AI parsing.
What is sent. Only when you have given consent, releasing a thought sends the following over an encrypted connection: the text of that thought, your app language, your time zone and the current time (needed to resolve phrases like "tomorrow at 6"). Nothing else — never your name, contacts, precise location, photos or identifiers.
Who receives it. The data goes to our processing endpoint (Supabase Edge Functions) and is passed to Anthropic PBC's Claude API, the AI service that extracts the reminder (title, time, category). Anthropic processes this data as a service provider under the Anthropic Commercial Terms and Privacy Policy, which provide protection equal to this policy: API inputs are not used to train AI models and are not retained beyond short-term operational needs.
How it is used. Solely to create your reminder. The text is not stored on our servers, not logged, not used for advertising, and not used for AI training — by us or by Anthropic.
If you decline. Parsing happens entirely on your device with a simpler built-in parser, and your thought text never leaves your phone. The same is true whenever you are offline.
Voice. Speech-to-text uses Apple's Speech framework under Apple's own privacy terms. We never receive your audio — only the transcribed text, which is handled exactly as described above.
On-device permissions
Some features ask for system permissions. All of them work on your device: location is used only for the region monitoring that fires place-based reminders — your location is never sent to our servers; photos you pick are read with on-device text recognition and the image never leaves your device; Apple Reminders access is used solely to copy the items you choose to import, locally. You can use Offload fully without granting any of these.
Where your data lives
Your reminders are stored on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, they are also stored in your private iCloud database (CloudKit), which we cannot access.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no advertising, no ad tracking, no sale of personal data.
- No sharing of personal data with third parties beyond the processing described in this policy (Anthropic for optional AI parsing, Google Firebase for anonymous analytics, RevenueCat for purchase validation).
Anonymous analytics
To understand which features help and which don't, Offload collects anonymous usage statistics through Google Firebase Analytics (without the advertising identifier). What we see: event names like "thought released" or "reminder completed", device model, OS version and app language. What we never see: the content of your thoughts or reminders, your location, or anything that identifies you. This data is not used for advertising and is not shared for ad targeting. Google processes it under the Google Privacy Policy.
Purchases
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are made through Apple — we never see your payment details. To validate purchases and manage subscription status we use RevenueCat as a processor: it receives Apple's purchase receipts together with a random anonymous identifier and basic device information (model, locale). RevenueCat cannot identify you and does not receive your thoughts, reminders or location.
Data deletion & export
Delete any reminder in the app, or delete the app to remove all local data. Disable iCloud sync (or delete Offload data in iOS Settings → iCloud) to remove cloud copies. Settings → Export my data gives you everything as JSON at any time.
